Introduction: Radiopharmaceuticals in nuclear medicine have several applications in medicine such as diagnostic and therapeutic.Radiopharmaceuticals with gamma emitter radionuclides are used more in diagnostics. It is due to the low absorption of gamma gamma in the tissue relative to the particles of beta and alpha. The aim of this research is calculation of effective dose distribution in human body due to injection of 99mTc-Octrotide radiopharmaceuticals (Somatostatine analogue) in mice body.Materials & methods: Effective dose in human body is estimated using MIRD (Medical Internal Radiation dose) phantom and MCNPX for different organs. Energy of gamma source and tally type are considered 140keV and F6 respectively. Findings: Effective dose after injection of 99mTc- Octreotide is estimated by MCNPX simulation code. The adrenals and pancreas received the most effective dose relative to the other organs 6mSv/185MBq, 1.5 mSv/185MBq respectively. Discussion and conclusion: The results showed that the adrenal and the pancreas are the organs of at risk in 99mTc-Octreotide radiopharmaceutical imaging.

In the last few decades, research has been focused on the use of natural products for cancer therapy, such as crude plant extracts or some of different plant secondary metabolits. The objective of this study was to examine the invitro cytotoxic activities of crude ethanolic extract of leaf and flower buds of Crataegus melanocarpa, on human MCF-7 and HeLa cell lines, with different concentrations, by Dye exclusion and Micro culture tetrazolium test (MTT) assay. Introduction:The utilization of steroid derivatives has become a major concern in the sport community; the aim of the present study was the investigation of eight weeks testosterone enanthate (TE) administrationand resistance training (RT) effects on liver enzyme profile in male rats.Materials and Methods:The thirty five rats (age: 10 weeks, weight: 12 ± 200 g) randomly was divided to five groups (n=7) including: 1) control+placebo, 2) RT + placebo, 3) TE, 4) RT + moderate dose of TE, and 5) RT + high dose of TE. The resistance training was consisted of climbing (5 reps/3 sets) a ladder carrying a load suspended from the tail for 8 weeks. At the end, whole blood samples were obtained from the orbital sinus and serum activity of liver enzymes including AST, GGT, ALT and ALP was measured by spectrophotometry.Findings:AST activity RT+HTE group was significantly higher than C, RT and TE groups. Introduction: Parkinson's disease results from degenerative loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra and other part of the brain stem. Oxidative stress plays a major role in neuronal death in this disease. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of Biarum carduchrum extract in treatment of Parkinson's disease.Methods: Rats were divided randomly into 5 groups of 8 animals. The control group did not receive any lesion. In Parkinson's group, Parkinson was induced by injection of 6- OHDA in the right anterior mid-brain (MFB). Third, fourth and fifth groups received Biarum carduchrum extract at doses of 100, 200 and 400 mg/kg via gavage for 14 days, 7 days after induction of Parkinson models. On day 15 behavioral tests, including catalepsy and open field was performed. Results: Parkinsonian group showed higher immobility time than control group in catalepsy test and rats treatment with Biarum carduchrum extract at doses of 200 and 400 dramatically reduce the immobilization time.Discussion: The results of this study show that Biarum carduchrum extract can improve motor impairment induced by Parkinson's, although didn’t significantly affect knowledge and anxiety in rats.

Background and purpose: granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) has a major role in blood cells differentiation especially in neutrophils, therefore G-CSF widely has been used in treatment of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. Different lines of evidence indicated that G-CSF is increased in inflammatory situation and has inflammatory characteristics. Unlike G-CSF, type I interferones (IFNs) have been shown to have anti-inflammatory effects. The aim of this study was to investigate whether type I IFNs can normalize the effects of G-CSF on blood factors. Materials and methods: forty-two mice (male, eight weeks) were divided into six groups of seven, which includes Group 1 (control) injection of distilled water, Group 2 injection 200 µg/kg b.w. G-CSF, Group 3 injection 200 µg/kg b.w. Alfa interferon (IFN-α), Group 4 injection 200 µg/kg b.w. interferon beta (IFN-β), Group 5 injection 200 µg/kg b.w. G-CSF+200 µg/kg b.w. IFN-α, Group 6 injection 200 µg/kg b.w. G-CSF+200 µg/kg b.w. IFN-β. After 28 days, blood was taken from each mouse heart and blood biochemical parameters (Glucose, Triglyceride, Cholestrol) was investigated. Results: surprisingly, in most cases, the G-CSF and type one IFNs alone or simultaneously reduced the levels of Glucose, triglycerides and cholesterol. Also the reduction of glucose, triglycerides and cholesterol were higher in G-CSF and INFs in compare with G-CSF alone. Our data raise the possibility that, G-CSF and INF-α/β have some similarity in signaling pathway which has to be investigated.

Background & Objectives: The etiology of some liver diseases is unknown, but oxidative stress has an important role in liver pathogenesis. Pistachio (Pistacia Vera) has compounds with known antioxidant properties, including coenzyme 10, vitamin E and beta-carotene. This study designed to evaluate protective effect of hydro-alcoholic extract of Pistacia Vera on liver enzymes following induction of hepatotoxicity.
Materials & methods: In this experimental study 40 male rats (200-250 g) were divided into five experimental groups. Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) was used to induce hepatic toxicity. In normal group, no intervention was done. Vehicle group received intraperitoneal injection of 50% CCl4. Treatment groups were gavaged by three doses of Pistacia Vera hydro-alcoholic extract (10, 50 and 100 mg/kg) for 1 month. Plasma activity of aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), total blood protein, plasma concentration of high density lipoprotein (HDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) were measured.
Results: Gavage of different doses of pistachio extract in rats poisoned by CCl4 leads to decrease in plasma activity of AST and ALT and also the plasma concentration of LDL, while the plasma activity of ALP and plasma concentration of total protein and HDL were not changed in these animals.
Conclusion: Result of this study demonstrated that chronic gavage of pistachio hydro-alcoholic extract could decrease hepatotoxicity induced by CCl4. More investigation is needed for possible clinical usage of pistachio on liver insufficiency.

Background & Objectives: Despite the numerous potential applications of nanoparticles in different sciences due to their unique properties, their adverse effects on human health have not been fully studied. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of Fe2O4Zn nanoparticle on thyroid and thyroid hormones in male rats. Materials & Methods: Male Wistar rats were randomly divided into three groups: Control rats received 0.5 ml saline for 7 consecutive days. Group 1 and 2 rats received 0.5 ml of Fe2O4Zn nanoparticle solution at doses of 100 and 200 ppm, respectively. Injections were carried out intraperitoneally. Serum biochemical parameters were evaluated in rats, after 2, 7 and 14 days of beginning the experiment. On the 14th days, thyroid tissue was removed and used for histological assessment. Results: Administration of Fe2O4Zn nanoparticle in concentrations of 100 ppm and 200 ppm significantly decreased TSH levels compared with that of control samples (P<0.05), whereas no significant change in levels of T3 was observed (P>0.05). Fe2O4Zn nanoparticle treatments significantly increased serum levels of T4 (P<0.05). Nanoparticle treatments in view of textural properties showed severe blood, mild inflammation and larger follicle size and, by increasing the concentration of the nanoparticles, these effects were observed more severe. Conclusion: Due to the variations observed in the levels of thyroid hormones and the histological changes of thyroid tissue, it can be concluded that Fe2O4Zn nanoparticle had toxic effects on thyroid function. More studies to investigate the toxic effects of nanoparticles in different doses and different times of exposure to Fe2O4Zn nanoparticles seem to be necessary.

Background & Objectives: According to the increasing opioids abuse between women and pathophysiological effects of chronic exposure of opioids on mothers which might indirectly affect their offspring, herein, consequences of chronic morphine consumption and its withdrawal before the gestation was investigated on spatial memory, avoidance memory and vulnerability to morphine intake in offspring of first generation.
Materials & Methods: Twelve female Wistar rats were randomly divided into two groups. Morphine mothers group received morphine solution (0.4 mg/ml) for two months. Control mothers group received tab water. One month after stopping morphine consumption, mating was occurred. After the parturition, offspring was divided in separated male and female groups and was used as the target groups of the study. Spatial memory through Water Maze, avoidance memory through Shuttle Box and vulnerability to morphine intake through voluntary consumption of morphine solution were investigated.
Results: Mean of morphine solution consumption in male and female offspring of morphine mothers was significantly higher in compare to male and female offspring of control mothers (P<0.05). Results of learning in Water Maze revealed that male offspring of morphine mothers significantly spent more time and distance to find the platform in compare with male offspring of control (P<0.01). Also, in retention test, male offspring of morphine mothers cross the location of platform significantly fewer than male offspring of control (P<0.001). There was no significant differences in avoidance learning between experimental groups (P<0.05).
Conclusion: Our study revealedchronic morphine consumption before the gestation causesdamage of spatial memory in male offspring and also increases vulnerability to opiate intake of male and female offspring.

Background & Objectives: Considering the role of glial cells in synaptic transmission, regulation of neurotransmitter concentration in synaptic cleft, K+ buffering, and releasing the gliotransmitters, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of glial cells inhibition on the progression of seizures induced by chemical kindling in rats. Materials & Methods: In chemical kindling, animals received Pentylenetetrazol, 35 mg/kg each 48 hours, intraperitoneally and five different stages of seizure were appeared gradually and seizure parameters including maximum seizure stage (SS), stage 4 latency (S4L), stage 4&5 duration (S5D), and seizure duration (SD) were measured during 20 min after PTZ injection. Then seizure parameters were evaluated in animals treated with intracerebroventricular (icv) administration of Fluorocitrate (as a glial cells inhibitor), injected 30 min before PTZ, and compared with PTZ treated animals. Results: Results showed that glial cells inhibition with ICV injection of Fluorocitrate decreased SS, S5D, and SD and increased S4L significantly (P<0.05, P<0.01, P<0.001). Conclusion: On the basis of obtained results, it may be concluded that glial cells inhibition reduces spreading rate of epileptiform activity in the nervous system, and the duration of neuronal hyperexcitability and, also, prevents the progression of seizure to final stages.
